The black ceramic bezel and black Tapisserie dial pull the visual weight inward. Your eye lands on the octagon and the exposed screws, not the diameter. That tightens the whole thing up.
The rubber strap is the quiet trick here. It's supple, it wraps close, and it drops the wrist-heavy feel you get from a bracelet on a big sports watch. Dressed down it's a T-shirt watch. Push the sleeve of a jacket over it and the black-on-steel keeps it from shouting.
